Taking accurate measurements for blouse stitching is crucial to ensure a well-fitted and comfortable garment. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to measure for blouse stitching:
Bust/Chest Measurement:
- Stand straight with your arms relaxed by your sides.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust/chest, ensuring it's parallel to the ground.
- Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight, allowing for a comfortable fit.
Underbust Measurement:
- Place the measuring tape directly under your bust, where the bottom edge of your bra sits.
- Wrap the tape around your body, ensuring it's level all the way around.
- Again, keep the tape snug but not overly tight.
Waist Measurement:
- Locate your natural waistline, which is typically the narrowest part of your torso.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your waist, ensuring it's parallel to the ground.
- Maintain a relaxed posture and avoid sucking in your stomach.
- Take the measurement while keeping the tape comfortably snug.
Hips Measurement:
- Stand with your feet together.
- Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, ensuring the tape is parallel to the ground.
- Maintain a relaxed posture and avoid pulling the tape too tight.
Shoulder Width Measurement:
- Start at the bony part of one shoulder and measure across to the bony part of the other shoulder.
- Ensure the tape is positioned straight across the back, without sagging or pulling too tightly.
Armhole Measurement:
- Extend one arm out to the side slightly.
- Measure from the top of your shoulder, down over the fullest part of your arm, and back up to the starting point.
- Repeat this step for the other arm.
Sleeve Length Measurement:
- Bend your arm slightly and place your hand on your hip.
- Start measuring from the top of your shoulder, over the elbow, and down to the desired sleeve length (e.g., wrist, below the wrist, etc.).
Blouse Length Measurement:
- Stand straight and measure from the base of your neck to the desired length of the blouse.
- Depending on your preference, this could be hip length, waist length, or any other desired length.
Remember to take measurements wearing the type of undergarments or bra you plan to wear with the blouse. It's also helpful to have someone assist you in taking measurements to ensure accuracy.
By following these steps, you should be able to gather the necessary measurements for stitching a well-fitted blouse.
